SportAbility of Iowa is passionate about tennis—tennis for “ANYONE and EVERYONE.”

If you have a disability that prevents you from playing “regular” tennis, you can still enjoy all of the benefits the game of tennis provides with adaptations designed to meet your individual needs.

Adaptive tennis is just that-tennis that is adapted to your individual needs. With the proper instruction and equipment designed to accommodate your needs, tennis is truly a game for everyone.

According to the United States Tennis Association (USTA), the goal of adaptive tennis is to promote and develop recreational tennis opportunities for individuals with differing abilities and circumstances through inclusion, knowledge, and support, and by providing, where needed, adaptive programming, equipment, and teaching techniques.

Tennis can be adapted for all ages and all abilities; however, there are few, if any, organized programs in the eastern Iowa Corridor for people with physical disabilities to learn and play tennis.

United States Tennis AssociationSportAbility of Iowa is a CTA – a Community Tennis Association – sanctioned by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) to provide inclusive tennis opportunities for people in the communities we serve. We support the USTA in promoting and developing “recreational tennis opportunities for individuals with varying abilities and circumstances through inclusion, knowledge, and support.”

Whether it’s standing tennis, adaptive tennis or wheelchair tennis, SportAbility invites you to join us in learning a fun sport you can play for a lifetime!
